Kel Tec P11 Serial Number
I have a P11 that seems to have a trigger reset fail. It will cycle fine first few rounds and after that, the trigger will stick and won't reset. I would literally have to push the trigger forward with my finger to reset it. There would be a round in the chamber ready to go and slide in battery but no go beacause the trigger didn't reset. Funny thing is,after the gun cools off,the trigger will slowly fix itself. After a few dry fires, the trigger will slowly creep to reset and eventually go back to normal.until you fire another round out of it.Has anyone ever had this problem with Kel Tec pistols? I've cleaned it thoroughly but that never seemed to fix it,even with lubricants, such as Rem Oil,in the trigger mechanism.
I've been thinking of sending it back to Kel Tec unless someone has a solution to this problem. Your input would be gladly appreciated. From KTOG - Doesn't help much but leans towards you sending it back.' I encountered hammer strike and trigger reset problems using my first box of +P ammo. However, the factory has since corrected these problems - FREE! - (they readily admitted that there might be a gun problem with +P ammo and that it probably mwasn't an ammo problem) and the problems have not recurred (door-to-door turnaround time: one week).

In fact, Kel-Tec's customer service is outstanding - they don't make excuses, they just fix it (FREE!). In addition to the repair work, I also sent my P11 back to Kel-Tec for factory-installed mods/accessories - all I had to pay for was parts, no labor charges! The Kel-Tec P11 is not a 'perfect' gun (no gun is), but there's not much to not like about it and the folks that build it.' My P11 has been 100% reliable, but I think I am able to get my trigger assembly to do the same thing with my slide removed. When you get the chance, try this:1) Unload the handgun, verify breach is clear2) Remove the slide assembly3) Pull the trigger and ride the hammer with your thumb to keep it from slamming forward against the frame4) At this point, my trigger does not reset. There is a connector that runs down the right hand side, between the aluminum frame and plastic grip. In order for this connector to re-engage the hammer, the hammer must be moved back slightly.
With the trigger released, move the hammer back a tiny bit and you should hear the connector reset with an audible 'click.' At this point, the trigger should work again. When the slide assembly is present, the firing pin resets the hammer to this position each time, but yours does not seem to be doing this. I would guess that either your firing pin is a bit too short, or the return spring in front of the firing pin has become weak. Since the hammer rests against the firing pin until the trigger is pulled, a weak firing pin spring could lead to accidental discharges. The whole problem could just be caused by a burr between the connector and hammer as well. If you're mechanically inclined, you can take the grip apart and notify Kel-Tec of what parts you need (if any.) Otherwise, they will be happy to service it for you. Kel-Tec's customer service is the reason why I own a P11, Sub2000, and SU-16C.EDIT.After reading your post again, I realize that your hammer is working fine.
It sounds like you have a bit of debris sandwiched along the trigger/hammer connector that I mentioned previously. I remember having a similar problem a couple years back when my grip was filled with sand (long story.) Once I got the sand from along side the connector, it worked fine again.
If you use your P11 as a pocket carry gun, lint could easily do the same thing. It can also get between the hammer and firing pin and cause light primer strikes (in all handguns with exposed hammers, not just Kel-Tecs.) At any rate, this should be a quick fix that doesn't require you sending it back to KT.Hope this helps.
